A true icon. Jan has won both the Bocuse Do´r with his fish dish & an Oscar for Barbette's Banquet. Jan put Denmark on the gastronomic world map in 1983 when he was the first, together with Daniel, to receive 1 Michelin star. We pay tribute to him and look forward to a great evening under the sign of Barbette.

About the event

This evening is about paying tribute to one of our great heroes in Danish gastronomy.... Jan "Cocotte" Pedersen.

Jan has long since retired, not because he was tired of cooking, but because his back is completely and utterly worn out. He simply CANNOT stand in the kitchen anymore.

On this occasion, we reinterpret Karen Blixen's grandiose menu from Babette's Banquet and give a glimpse of what this magnificent meal would look like today. I have therefore gathered some of the country's most talented chefs who will come and give their take on Karen Blixen's iconic Barbette's menu to him. We gather both friends and colleagues, film and media people who will pay tribute to Jan Cocotte Pedersen this evening.

We pay tribute to him for his efforts and he himself tells a few good stories from his glorious career and culinary life, for better or worse. We give Jan the place in the Gastronomic History of Denmark that he deserves.
